Nail Therapy? Let's get Personal!

Hey guys! welcome to my blog. I started this blog a year ago along with when I first started Instagram(IG). I was feeling a little overwhelmed with the blog and my IG page, so I decided to just focus on having fun with IG. Its been almost a year later and let me tell you, its been one heck of a ride. I have had so much fun meeting nice people, participating in nail art challenges, and experimenting with new nail art techniques. I never knew there were so many other people out there like me who loves nail polish. Some people may wonder why would any one love nail polish so much. Well, I love nail polish because there's not a size on the bottle, I don't have to squeeze into it, it just goes right on my nail. I wear nail polish because it may be a special occasion or maybe it just makes me feel relaxed after a long day of taking care of my son and cleaning the house. Here is a picture of some nail art that I did on January 14, 2016. My son Malachi had to have surgery on the next morning. I was so nervous that I decided to paint my nails to relax me. So I came up with teddy bear and chocolate chip cookie nails because those were his two favorite things at the time (now he's into minions). When it was time for him to go into operation I wanted to go with him, but I couldn't. But, some how sitting in the waiting room and looking down at my nails made me feel closer to him. I was so relieved that every thing went well with his operation. I think that's the real reason why some of us love nail polish and nail art. It can represent what we care about most in our lives. I think everyone needs some type of hobby to help relax them and clear their minds. So remember, if your feeling overwhelmed about life just do a little "nail therapy" on yourself (or whatever makes you happy). And if you can't do your nails, pay someone to do them. I guarantee you'll feel better! Comment down below and share why you love nail polish?

Moments with Malachi

                                       Meet Donna Karl

I met Donna last year on Instagram. I first noticed her when I saw a picture of her nails with her Starbucks's ice coffee. I thought to myself, oh yeah, I definitely need to follow her. Over the year we have gotten to know each other. She's such a sweet and beautiful person. Oh, and did I mention she is a nail addict too! Like me, Donna has different reasons why she loves nail polish. And one of those reasons is to bring awareness to different causes. She has always supported relay for life, volunteered to give blood, and supported women who have experienced domestic violence, and that's just a few to name. Although, she brings awareness to others and their causes, she has a story of her own. Donna was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) three years ago. PH is an increase of blood pressure that effects arteries in the lungs and heart which leads to shortness of breath, dizziness, fainting, and other symptoms. Some forms of PH are serious conditions and are sometimes fatal. Even though, anyone can be diagnosed with PH, there are certain risk factors that make certain people more likely to get the disease. For example, PH can be pass down from a family member or through drugs such as the dieting pill "fen phen." Because of the lack of knowledge about PH in the past, patients were only expected to live for 1 to 3 years after diagnosis. However, Donna has beaten the odds, she has far succeeded expectations and is doing very well. This year on June17-19 in Dallas, Texas the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) is celebrating 25 years of successful progress in research and treatments. Because of the PHA, people have learned to manage their illness and live happy and fulfilling lives. And I believe Donna has chosen to do just that. Down below is a picture of her PH manicure that she did to bring awareness to this disease. I'm honored that I was given the opportunity to share a small part of her story with you. If you want to know more about this disease click on the link http://phassociation.org/. The color of the awareness ribbon is periwinkle and it looks beautiful on her! Check out Donna's other amazing nail art designs on her IG page @dwooleybooger(click the link at the bottom of the picture to view her page).
